'Hamas wants war Israel seems to be planning'. (CT 28/10/23) DUH! Israel created Hamas to do that & it's done its job repeatedly over the years. How else can Israel justify genociding Palestinans?

Hard and tough justice is demanded for Israel’s VICTIMS & "innocent" Palestinians NOT "being with" HAMAS. WHY are Israeli’s AND the IDF,' "victims" & Palestinians only "innocent" if not with Hamas?

Jack Waterford says “Hamas wants war Israel seems to be planning”. (CT 28/10/23, p.26). Well DUH! Hamas was created and funded by Israel for that purpose and has done its job repeatedly over the years. How else can Israel justify its ethnic cleansing of Gaza and the West Bank?

Jack says with subtle approval that Israel has “overwhelming mastery and control of how they (Palestinians) live, and powers of massive intervention that cannot be defeated by conventional means”.

One wonders whether Jack would be so sanguine IF the Israeli IDF or any other foreign military force had “overwhelming mastery and control of how Australians lived, AND powers of massive intervention in Australia that couldn’t be defeated by conventional means” ?

Jack also writes: The horror of October 7, after Hamas terrorists broke out of Gaza and engaged in a murder and kidnapping spree  against hundreds of Israeli civilians, including women and children causing Israel to immediately declare a state of war against Hamas… Leaders of all the Western countries including Australia … spoke immediately of Israel’s right to defend itself… (because) of “the epic brutality” of Hamas. “Israel has been provoked in a terrible and unforgiveable way”.

This scenario has been played out many times before by Israel and Hamas and each time Australian and Western governments have approved and supported Israel’s slaughter of thousands of Palestinian men women and children. 

An objective observer might ask: ‘Why is the Canberra Times and its readers so ready to accept the Israeli government’s narrative about the alleged slaughter of Israeli women and children by Hamas AND why, even if Israel’s story is true,  which is not conceded, they condone and justify the intense bombardment and killing of  many thousands of Gazan men women and children.

Typically the article headlines the need for hard and tough justice for Israel’s VICTIMS and for INNOCENT Palestinians NOT being with HAMAS. WHY are ALL Israeli’s  including the IDF, victims while Palestinians  not with Hamas are merely innocent?
